You will be missed! Two of the best companions the doctor has ever had are no more. What a heart- wrenching storyline on tonights Doctor Who. Gotta love those weeping angels though. Probably best nemesis the Doctor has; even better then the Daleks in my opinion.

Poetry

T'was the night before elections,

And all thru' the town,

Tempers were flaring

Emotions ran up and down.

I, in my bathrobe

With a cat in my lap,

Had shut off the TV,

tired of political crap.

When all of a sudden,

There arose such a noise,

I peered out my window,

Saw Obama and his boys

They had come for my wallet,

They wanted my pay

To hand out to others

Who had not worked a day!

He snatched up my money,

And quick as a wink,

Jumped back on his bandwagon

As I gagged from the stink.

He then rallied his henchmen

Who were pulling his cart.

I could tell they were out

To tear my country apart!

'On Fannie, on Freddie,

On Biden and Ayers!

On Acorn, on Pelosi'

He screamed at the pairs!

They took off for his cause,

And as they flew out of sight,

I heard him laugh at a nation

Who wouldn't stand up and fight!

So I leave you to think on this one final note...

Dietitians

Damn dietitians! How did we ever evolve and survive as a species when everything good that we can eat is now supposedly so bad for us? I am not supposed to eat anything that I consider to be the staples that make life worth living. On the other hand, everything I am supposed to be feeding on from now on, I find repulsive at best, inedible at the worst. And do you have any idea how long it takes to get through the grocery store when you have to read every label and analyze every carb and gram of nutrient? A long time, I'll tell ya. And then when you look in the cart, there isn't anything you would have been caught dead eating before you were "re-educated". I want my red meat, my carbs and my delicious foods back!

Day 2

Cooling off a bit starting today. It has always bugged me that here in LA the summers tend to be rather cool but once the rest of the country is preparing for fall, we are experiencing the warmest weather of the year. The start of school and football season should not be the hottest time of the year.

Saw the space shuttle fly-over last Friday. Was really incredible to see. Only wish it had lasted a little longer. Tried to get the camera out and get a few shots since it really was in a perfect position but it would have been gone by the time I got the camera out of the bag. It was very low and flew by in what seemed to be an almost impossibly slow speed.

First Post

Another hot and lazy day here in L.A.

The Steelers looked like crap and managed to lose to the hated Raiders. At least the Cardinals looked good. Amazing actually! Hope they can keep it going throughout the season. Nice to see perennial losers doing well. Sure was miserable having to root for the Patriots. Only thing worse was having them lose to the Ravens. All in all it was a pretty crappy sports weekend.

I hope to be able to post thoughts, concerns, and general observations to this site. Hopefully it will prove to be somewhat cathartic as I am finding that with each passing year I am becoming more and more grumpy and jaded. Won't be long 'til I am the guy yelling at people to stay off of the lawn.

Speaking of which, it sure would be nice to have one of those. A lawn I mean. The yard is there. The dirt is there. Money has been spent on seed and fertilizer. But since we rent, we have no control over the water required to make a lawn grow. And we have been forbidden from watering. Explicitly forbidden. So our house is known throughout the neighborhood as "that one with the lawn". Amazing how many big and ugly weeds will grow without water while the grass simply goes dormant. Guess I should be grateful that the landlord will run the mower once every other month or so to control the height of the weeds. Except for the dust storm it creates. Nothing like chucking rocks and dirt over the whole area.
